An independent radar for a category full of paid rankings
Most “best AI girlfriend app” lists are written by affiliates and ordered by commission. AI Companion Radar exists to give people a ranking that is ordered by the product.
What this site is
AI Companion Radar is a directory and review site for AI companion apps: chat companions, roleplay platforms, image and video generators built around characters, and voice companions. Every app gets a profile with pricing, content policy, features, a verdict and cancellation steps. Rankings are built from the same scores, weighted for one use case at a time.
Who runs it
The site is written and maintained by a small editorial team based in Europe. We do not publish individual bylines on app profiles because profiles are updated by whoever ran the latest review round. Articles carry the byline of the editor who wrote them.
How apps are scored
Every app is scored out of ten on five criteria with fixed weights: conversation quality (30%), memory (20%), media generation (20%), pricing honesty (15%) and content policy clarity (15%). Chat-only apps are scored on four criteria and scaled. Scores are recalculated at every re-test, and the profile shows the date of the last review.
Each profile also states its research basis. Desk-researched profiles are built from the app’s own documentation, pricing pages, store listings and a reading of public user reports. Hands-on tested profiles were run by us on a paid account for at least a week. We label the difference because it matters.
Independence
We take no payment from the apps we list. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored placements and no paid reviews. Links to apps are plain links. Rankings cannot be bought, and no app maker sees a review before it is published.
We do rank apps we like above apps we do not. That is the job. The scorecard is public so you can disagree with the weights.
Adult content
Many apps in this category allow adult conversation or imagery for verified adults. We describe those features in words, report each app’s published policy, and host nothing explicit. This site is for readers aged 18 and over.
Corrections and app makers
If a profile is wrong or out of date, email hello@aicompanionradar.com with the app name and what changed. Pricing and policy corrections with a source are usually live within a week. App makers are welcome to send corrections through the same address; it does not change scores.
How to cite us
You may quote scores and verdicts with a link to the profile. If you embed a “Featured on AI Companion Radar” badge on your site, link it to the profile page rather than the home page so readers land on the full review.
