Verdict
The most flexible uncensored roleplay front end short of self-hosting, with shareable character cards and lorebooks. Billing in mandatory four-month blocks and a busy interface hold it back.

What Chub AI is
Chub AI, whose chat interface is known as Venus, is a character-card platform for uncensored roleplay. It grew out of the community that trades character cards and lorebooks for local front ends, and it offers hosted models so that users do not need to run their own. It is web-based.
Features
Characters are shareable cards with definitions, example dialogue and lorebook entries that inject world knowledge when keywords appear, which gives long scenes better consistency than most companion apps. Free users get basic hosted models with limited context; Mercury adds mid-size models with about 8k of memory; Mars unlocks unlimited generation on the in-house Soji model, a large DeepSeek-derived model launched in 2025, plus larger third-party models. Users can also plug in their own API keys. There is no image, video or voice generation.
Pricing
As reported in September 2026, Mercury is $5 a month and Mars $20 a month, but both are billed in mandatory four-month blocks, so the real charge is about $20 or $80 up front. The free tier is usable indefinitely on the basic models.
Content policy
Chub is marketed on the absence of censorship and permits adult content between adults, with content tags and filters so that users can hide what they do not want to see. Minors and other illegal content are banned. The openness means the platform is unsuitable for anyone under 18, and the default filters need active management.
Who it is for
Experienced roleplayers who want cards, lorebooks and model choice, and who accept a busier interface. Not for anyone who wants pictures, voice, or a simple companion that just works.

Because plans are billed in four-month blocks, access continues to the end of the paid block. Refund terms were not visible during research.
