What Promptchan is
Promptchan is first and foremost an adult image generator that has grown a video mode and a character chat around it. The site now lives at promptchan.com (the old promptchan.ai address did not resolve for us in September 2026), and it advertises a community library of over 20 million generated images and videos, a figure we cannot verify. A former iOS and Android app has been discontinued; the developer’s own page directs users to the browser version.
Features
Images are the core. The homepage lists several model families, including XL 2, XL+, Anime XL 2, Anime XL+, Hyperreal XL+, Illustration XL+ and Realism XL 2, and offers clone-and-vary tools so you can build on any gallery image instead of rewriting a prompt. A Character tool keeps a face consistent across images, video and chat. Reviewers rate output quality highly for the explicit niche, while noting generation times of 15 to 30 seconds, slower than some rivals.
Video covers text-to-video and image-to-video with controls for framing, motion, quality and sound. Reviews describe the clips as short and put the cost at roughly 20 gems each, though the site itself says video cost varies by settings. Full-length video and Extend are restricted to Pro.
Chat exists with Discover, Chat and Story modes and in-conversation image generation. Independent testers consistently call it functional but thin: short, generic replies, and memory that holds within a session but not across sessions. There is no editable memory feature. Voice messages cost 1 gem and voice calls 2 gems, with calling limited to Pro.

The upgrade page shows four tiers: Free ($0, daily free gems, amount unstated), Plus $14.99/mo with 100 gems, Premium $23.99/mo with 400 gems, and Pro $33.99/mo with 800 gems plus unlimited “casual” (slower queue) generations. Paid subscribers get 50% off additional gem packs. No annual pricing is shown. Reviews quote lower figures ($11.99, $18.99, $26.99), which appear to be first-month promotional prices; the list prices above are what the site displayed in September 2026.
Gem maths from reviews: a standard image costs 1 gem, Extreme quality 2 and Max quality 3, so 100 gems on Plus is around 100 basic images or 33 at top quality, and 800 gems on Pro would be exhausted by roughly 40 videos. The site does not publish these image and video rates itself, which is the main honesty gap.
Content policy
Promptchan is explicit by design and says so: “uncensored” image generation and “no filter” chat are advertised on every plan. The prohibited list, as summarised by reviewers of the terms, names minors, non-consensual content, deepfakes of real people, incest, bestiality, scat, extreme violence and illegal drug content. The refund clause allows requests within 30 days of cancellation for minimally used accounts, decided case by case; crypto purchases are non-refundable. What remains unclear is how the mobile-store versions, where they still exist, differ in age terms and feature access.
Who it is for
Choose Promptchan if you want a large, style-rich explicit image and short-video generator and can budget gems. Skip it if you are after a companion to talk to: the chat and memory are not competitive with dedicated companion apps, and the interesting extras cost $33.99 a month.

How to cancel Promptchan
To cancel a Promptchan subscription bought on the web:
Log in at promptchan.com and open your Profile or Settings.
Select your current plan (Plus, Premium or Pro), choose Change Plan, then Cancel Plan, and make sure auto-renew is off.
Keep the confirmation; access runs to the end of the paid period.
If you subscribed through an older iOS build, cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. The terms allow refund requests within 30 days of cancellation for accounts with minimal use, decided case by case; cryptocurrency purchases are non-refundable.
