What Soulkyn is

Soulkyn is an uncensored AI roleplay and companion platform for adults, built by a very small team: the co-founder known as Nyx describes himself as the sole developer of what he calls “a two-person team”. It opened as a beta in early 2024. An archived copy of its terms from August 2024 names the owner as Cube Digital Media Ltd., a company registered in Dublin, Ireland; the current terms sit behind a bot check and could not be read. Characters are called “kyns”, and the platform is unusually broad: chat and group roleplay, image and video generation, real-time voice calls, AI-written songs, illustrated and narrated “light novels”, Lovense toy control, and a community layer with collectible cards, character auctions and contests. Its own figures, as of October 2026, are more than 120,000 characters, 18 million images and 2.4 million scenes played. It is explicitly adult: the landing page says “No filters, no limits” and “18+ only”.

Chat and roleplay

Roleplay is the centre of Soulkyn and the most developed part of it. Kyns can show inner thoughts inline, roll an optional automatic D20 on every message, and carry live stats for energy, trust, affection, arousal, mood and pain that shift with the scene and feed back into behaviour. Any message can be continued, regenerated, translated, edited or turned into an image. Group scenes hold a lead kyn plus up to seven more, with a “director pass” deciding who speaks next; community “scenarios” provide ready-made casts and opening scenes. Advanced users can write whole RPG-style kyns with NPCs and commands, and attach “.dll” behaviour mods and “.wrl” world files to a thread, all written in plain language. Group chat requires the Deluxe plan, as reported by third-party reviews at $49.99 a month, which is the most common complaint about the price ladder.

Reviewers who tested it in 2025 and 2026 describe characters as consistent and emotionally responsive, building tension gradually rather than escalating at once. The company’s own help pages are candid that replies depend heavily on a kyn’s written traits, its example messages and what you accept in the thread: a reply you leave unedited becomes an example the AI follows later.

Memory

Soulkyn explains its memory clearly. Three mechanisms run over each thread: per-message vector recall that pulls the five most relevant past memories on every turn, each with the messages around it; a chain of rolling summaries, each built on the previous one, that carries the long arc; and a free-text box of “forced memories” you write yourself, one fact per line, that always apply. New messages become recallable within a couple of minutes. “Unlimited memory” here means storage is not capped, not that everything is in front of the model at once, and Soulkyn deliberately does not publish a context-window size. Memory is scoped to a single thread and never leaks between threads, which is good for separate storylines but means a kyn does not remember you across different chats.

Models and technology

Soulkyn names its chat models, which few rivals do. Standard chats run on Gwem, described as a fast in-house model. Deluxe and Deluxe Plus text chats run on what Soulkyn calls GLM 5.2, an “Opus-class” model it says it self-hosts on its own clusters as “a 753B-class frontier model”, which it gives as the reason Deluxe chat can be unlimited. Voice calls stay on the standard model. These are the company’s own descriptions and were not independently verified. Images run on seven models in two families: three Stable Diffusion anime models that take tag prompts, and four natural-language models, three of them labelled “ZIT”, with 63 LoRA style add-ons (up to three per image). Voice runs on an in-house engine called Vibe TTS.

Images, video and voice

Image generation has the controls of a hobbyist tool: model choice, LoRAs, prompt strength, CLIP skip, scheduler, seeds, image-to-image from an existing Soulkyn image, and saveable presets for clothing, locations and prompts. A Picturize button turns any chat message into an image, and you can send pictures into the chat for the kyn to see. Images are counted in quotas: one quota buys six images from the generator or one in-chat image. Third-party testers rated the images good but noted occasional eye and posing flaws.

Video is image-to-video only: 5 or 10 seconds, Fast at 480p or Detailed at 720p, with sound and voice or in a cheaper silent mode, optional looping and an HD upscale to 1440p. A premium plan is required, and failed renders refund their Souls automatically. Voice covers spoken replies, recorded voice messages and real-time calls with live captions and mid-call language switching; the company says call time is unmetered. Reviewers in 2025 found the voices functional but flat compared with the best rivals.

Beyond chat: what else it does

This is Soulkyn’s widest lead. You can create a kyn five ways: by hand, from a one-line description (60 Souls), by “spinning the wheel” (120 Souls), by “breeding” two existing kyns, or by importing one from another service or an image; every edit is versioned and each thread pins the version it uses. Light novels turn a premise and up to five kyns into a 4,000 to 9,000 word story with cover art, optional chapter illustrations, audio narration from six narrators and sequels. Kyns can write songs of one to four minutes and blog posts in their own voice. A Lovense integration lets the AI drive a paired toy from the conversation. There is a collectible card game with published pull odds, soul auctions, seasonal ladders, monthly character contests, forums and a documented public API.

The free tier, honestly

Soulkyn ran unlimited free text chat from April to October 2025, then ended it on 22 October 2025, citing abuse, dataset scraping and almost no conversions. What remains is a free trial with usage limits but no time limit, and no card is needed to create an account and a first kyn. The trial quota is not published, and the help pages warn that multiple accounts are banned permanently. A Soulkyn blog post from October 2026 still says the free tier “offers unlimited uncensored AI chat”, which contradicts the founder’s own announcement; treat the trial as a sample, not a plan.

Platforms and apps

Soulkyn is a website that works in desktop and mobile browsers. No Soulkyn app was found in the Apple App Store in October 2026, although the terms refer to “App(s)”. The main site sits behind an aggressive bot check, while the help centre, feature pages and blog are on separate subdomains. Subscription keys are also resold on G2A, which is an unofficial channel.

Support, cancellation and refunds

Support runs mainly through Discord, the community forums and an in-chat help assistant. The August 2024 terms say you can cancel from the manage subscription page at any time, with a confirmation email, and that a cancellation made after a new billing period starts takes effect from the next one. Refunds are not offered for paid subscriptions except where Soulkyn made a mistake or the service had a technical problem, and stricter local consumer law prevails; requests are reviewed within 14 days. The help centre adds that accounts banned after three warnings, for example for underage-looking kyns, lose their subscription without a refund.

Who it is for

Soulkyn suits adult roleplayers who want depth and tinkering: group scenes, dice, stats, world files, versioned characters, and creative extras such as novels and songs, with memory that is explained rather than just promised. It is less suited to people who want a simple companion app, a phone app, strong voice, or a cheap way to get group chat, and the best text model sits on the $49.99 tier. Check the plan page carefully, because the feature you want may be two tiers above the one you planned to buy.
