What CrushOn AI is

CrushOn AI is a browser-based character-chat platform launched in 2023 and marketed on one word: unfiltered. Like Character.AI and SpicyChat it hosts a public library of user-made bots, the catalogue runs to hundreds of thousands, heavily weighted toward anime and romance, and lets you chat with them, with an NSFW toggle that is off by default. The company behind it is listed in its terms as TECHIEPIE LTD, registered in Cyprus with a Delaware mailing address, as reported; earlier documents named Peekaboo Tech, and card statements show the payment processor rather than the brand. That opacity is the theme of this review. The chat itself is capable and permissive; almost everything around it, pricing, terms, refunds, apps, is harder to pin down than it should be.

Chat and roleplay

CrushOn offers several model tiers. The basic models are included in your plan and do not consume credits beyond the standard message cost; the Pro and Ultra models, which, as reported, include large third-party models under generic labels, cost multiples of credits per message and are where the platform is at its best: longer, more coherent replies and better adherence to character cards. Reply length is capped by plan, from around 225 characters on the free tier to 650 on the top tier, adjustable from Luxe upward, as reported. In practice the NSFW toggle allows most adult roleplay between fictional adults, with hard blocks on content involving minors and real people. Group chats with three or four characters and “World Cards” that share a setting across several bots were added in 2026, as reported. Quality of user-made characters is inconsistent, and free users see slow responses at peak times. The experience is closer to a dating-sim than a companion: you collect and swap characters rather than build one relationship.

Memory

Memory is context-window memory with a modest overlay. Working context scales with the model you pay for, as reported, up to 24K on the Ultra models, and the platform’s 2026 memory update extended recall to roughly a hundred messages on higher tiers. There is a character-memory field and a persona system, but nothing comparable to Replika’s editable fact store or SpicyChat’s Memory Manager. Reviewers consistently report character drift after long sessions, and there is no cross-chat memory: every new conversation with a character starts from its card.

Models and technology

CrushOn is a multi-model front end rather than a single-model companion, and it labels its models openly in a selector that shows each one’s community rating, message count, context window and response time. Reviewers in 2026 list three tiers. The free ‘basic’ models, unlimited on every plan, carry house names: Crushon Classical (Alpha and Beta), Crushon RP LLM, Crushon Instant, Crushon Novel and the default Crushon Leo 8K, alongside specialist roleplay models called Aries, Hermes 7B and Taurus and an uncensored Llama2-13B. What these are fine-tuned from is not disclosed.

The paid tiers name their vendors in the label. ‘Pro’ models include DeepSeek V4 Flash and V4 Pro and GLM 5.1; ‘Ultra’ models include Ultra Gemini 3 Pro, Ultra Kimi K2, Ultra Opus 4.7 and Ultra Claude Sonnet. Every message on a Pro or Ultra model draws down monthly credits, and the cost scales with context: one review cites 14 credits per message on an Ultra model at 8K context and 42 at 24K. Because line-ups rotate often, any list is a snapshot.

There is no disclosed image model. Image and GIF replies come from albums that creators upload and tie to keywords; when a reviewer asked a character to generate a picture, it answered that it could only do text, despite a 2025 press release describing an ‘NSFW AI image generator’. Video does not exist. Voice uses an unnamed text-to-speech system with more than forty presets in nine languages, plus a beta ‘Create Voice’ cloning tool; the vendor is not named. There is no API or bring-your-own-key option, so the model list is what CrushOn chooses to host.

Images, video and voice

This is the weakest and least clearly documented area. CrushOn has advertised image features, but user reports in 2026 describe the images that appear in chat as pre-made GIF or WebP character responses rather than per-prompt generation, and one detailed review states flatly that image generation is not available on any tier. We treat generated images as unconfirmed. Voice exists as text-to-speech replies only, with no voice input, as of March 2026 reports. There is no video. If media matters to you, the image-led companion apps are in a different class.

Beyond chat: what else it does

CrushOn’s extras are mostly about roleplay structure and the creator economy; media is thin. What is documented by reviewers, and how it is gated, is as follows.

• Model switching: basic models are free and unlimited; Pro and Ultra models cost credits per message, with allowances from 100 a month on the free plan to tens of thousands on the top tiers.

• Character tools: personality, scenario and example dialogue, PNG/JSON card import, keyword-triggered image albums, Scene Card backgrounds and World Cards that share lore across several characters. Free to create.

• Group chat: three to four characters in one scene, steered by @-mentions; introduced in 2026 on higher tiers.

• Memory: plan-gated long-term memory (reviewers cite 400 messages per character on Premium, 600 on Luxe), ‘permanent tokens’ for fixed facts, and 8K–24K context by model.

• Image and GIF replies: album images sent when keywords fire, on Standard and above with adult content on. No true generation.

• Voice: voice replies, 40-plus presets in nine languages and a beta Create Voice cloning feature with 5 or 10 custom slots by tier. No calls.

• Inspiration Replies: 20 suggested lines a day on free accounts, plus immersion, length and tone controls.

• Creator economy: Diamonds tipping that pays creators, free Coins for log-ins, and a 30% affiliate scheme.

• Community: a 70,000-member Discord and active subreddit.

• Platform: web and PWA only; the Android app was pulled from Google Play in June 2026 and there is no iOS app. Card or ID age checks apply in the UK, Australia, Brazil and parts of the EU.

Missing entirely: live voice or video calls, video generation, lorebooks beyond World Cards, API or proxy support, and any AR, VR or messaging-bot integration.

The free tier, honestly

The free tier is a trial rather than a service. It comes with a small monthly credit allowance (reported at 100 credits, historically expressed as around 50 messages a day), the basic models only, the shortest replies and the slowest queue. Because the best models burn many credits per message, free credits vanish quickly if you touch them. The NSFW toggle is available on the free tier, subject to the regional age gate described below. It is enough to judge the library and the writing style, not to use the product, and the credit meter makes the upsell more insistent than on rivals with flat message caps.

Platforms and apps

CrushOn is web-only in practice. There is no iOS app, as Apple’s guidelines exclude sexually explicit content. An Android app appeared on Google Play in January 2026 and was removed on 18 June 2026; the Play listing now returns a 404. Mobile use is through the browser, which can be saved to the home screen, or through APKs of uncertain provenance that we do not recommend. Third-party apps using similar names (“Char.AI”, “Cru.AI”) on the App Store are not CrushOn.

Support, cancellation and refunds

Support is by email and a Discord server; response times of days are reported and complaints on review sites cluster around billing. Subscriptions are cancelled from your profile’s subscription page and run to the end of the paid period; downgrading between plans is reported to require cancelling and re-subscribing. The terms state no refunds for usage fees, with exceptions only for duplicate charges or billing errors, as reported. Charges appear on statements under the payment processor’s name rather than CrushOn, which has led to chargebacks and confusion. Because we could not load the official pricing or terms pages in September 2026, all of this is as reported.

Who it is for

CrushOn suits adults who want a big, permissive library of anime-styled characters, are comfortable with a credit economy and prefer collecting characters to building one relationship. It is a poor choice for anyone who wants to know the price before they pay, who needs images or voice, who wants an app, or who cares that the terms they agree to actually permit what they are buying.
