Verdict

Creative, well-written characters and a big free library, wrapped in gacha cards, gems and frequent ads. The policy is firmly SFW, even suggestive content is banned, and the app has been pulled from both major stores at different times.

What works

Large creative character library with strong roleplay writing Free to use without a subscription, per the official site Community guidelines are explicit about what is banned Creator programme with verified authors

What holds it back

No public price: Talkie+ figures come only from third parties Card pulls, gems and event currencies add a gacha layer; 40 to 50 second video ads on free Removed from the US App Store in December 2024 and from Google Play in April 2026 before reinstatement; no iOS listing found in September 2026

What Talkie is

Talkie is a character chat platform operated by SUBSUP PTE. LTD. of Singapore and “powered by MiniMax”, the Shanghai AI company listed in Hong Kong in January 2026. It began in China as Glow in 2022 and relaunched internationally as Talkie in June 2023. Users chat with community-created personas across anime, fiction, gaming and fantasy, create their own, and collect “Soul Cards” tied to characters.

Features

Chat runs on MiniMax role-play models, including one the team describes as a systematic attempt at deeper role-play. The official FAQ is candid that memory is technically limited and older conversations are forgotten; third parties report a 60-day history window on free accounts. The app description mentions AI image, video and audio creation, and reviewers describe text-to-image generation and one-way voice on some characters, but the official pages do not document limits. Cards, gems and event-limited currencies form a collecting layer that reviewers compare to gacha games.

Pricing

The site shows only an “Unlock with Talkie+” prompt and a discount badge; no price is published. Reviews in 2026 report Talkie+ at about $9.99 a month, a discounted first year around $49.99 to $79.99 renewing near $96, and a Pro tier at $24.99 a month, with gems as a separate spend. Recharges are non-refundable except for system errors, and subscriptions are managed through the app stores with no partial-month refunds. The free tier is indefinite, with ads and a daily message wall.

Content policy

Talkie is stricter than any other app in this directory: the community guidelines prohibit explicit sexual content and content with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones, including suggestive poses and even tentacle imagery. The minimum age in the terms is 14, rising to 15 or 16 in some countries, with no verification mechanism described, which sits awkwardly with romance-heavy characters and an “Everyone” rating on Google Play. The app was removed from the US App Store in December 2024 for “technical reasons”, returned as Talkie Lab, and was pulled from Google Play in April 2026 and reinstated in May; we found no live iOS listing in September 2026.

Who it is for

Younger and mainstream users who want creative SFW roleplay with a game-like layer. Adults looking for companionship or any mature content should look elsewhere, and anyone worried about data handling should read the privacy policy first.

Research basis: desk research from the official site, help centre and public user reports, September 2026.

How to cancel Talkie

Talkie+ is bought through the app stores.

  1. Android: Google Play → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Talkie → Cancel.

  2. iOS (where available): Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Talkie → Cancel.

Cancel before the renewal date; the terms exclude refunds for partial months and the FAQ says recharges are non-refundable except for system errors or duplicate charges. Account deletion is offered at talkie-ai.com/delete.
