SpicyChat vs MyBabes: roleplay chat or generation studio?

SpicyChat is a text roleplay platform with a documented model list, a free tier that does not run out and a $5.95 entry plan; MyBabes is an image, video and story studio that also has chat. If you want to type, pick SpicyChat. If you want pictures, clips or episodic stories around a character, pick MyBabes, and accept that its chat is the less specialised of the two.

Chat and roleplay

Winner: SpicyChat. This is the category SpicyChat was built for. It is a community library of user-made characters, run by NextDay AI Inc. of Montreal since 2023, with an NSFW toggle and tools that roleplayers will recognise from SillyTavern. A Lorebook attaches up to 5,000 keyword-triggered world entries to a private character, budgeted at roughly 20% of the context window. Director Mode lets you add a /cmd line under a message to instruct the model directly: change the tone, add a twist, break a loop. Group Chat puts two to ten characters in one thread, free, with automatic turn-taking reserved for subscribers. There are swipeable regenerations, message editing, a /search command for live web results and, on the upper tiers, controls for temperature, top-p and top-k.

The limits are documented too. Replies are capped at 180 tokens on Free and Get A Taste and 300 on the two upper tiers, so nobody gets novel-length prose, and free users sit at the back of the queue.

MyBabes chat is unlimited on paid plans and uncensored for adults within a published Blocked Content Policy. It lacks the plumbing: no lorebooks, director commands, sampler settings or multi-bot rooms. Its structured roleplay mode, Adventures, is a different thing and is covered below. For plain text roleplay, MyBabes is not the right tool and SpicyChat is.

Memory

Winner: draw. SpicyChat publishes its numbers, and they are small: 4,096 tokens of context on Free and Get A Taste, 8,192 on True Supporter, 16,384 on I’m All In. To compensate, Semantic Memory 2.0 (True Supporter and up) condenses the chat into retrievable memories, and the Memory Manager (Get A Taste and up) lets you write, edit, pin and delete 250-character memories by hand. Upkeep is your job, and memory does not carry between separate chats, as reported in September 2026.

MyBabes keeps a per-character memory list that can be reviewed, pinned or deleted, plus an “about you” profile. Memory on the Normal models is not token-gated. The “Plus” model class is described on the pricing page as having ten times the memory, costs 0.2 tokens a message on Premium and is unlimited on Ultra. MyBabes publishes no context sizes, so the 10× claim cannot be checked. SpicyChat gives more control and documentation; MyBabes asks for less maintenance. Neither matches Nomi or Kindroid, which lead our memory ranking.

Models and technology

Winner: SpicyChat for chat models, MyBabes for media engines. SpicyChat’s documentation names every chat model and ties it to a tier. Free accounts get SpicyChat Default and TheSpice, both 8B. Get A Taste adds Stheno (8B) and Magnum 12B. True Supporter opens Lyra 12B V4, Shimizu 24B, Mixtral 8x7B and Noromaid. I’m All In carries the 70B class (Euryale 70B, Midnight Rose 70B, Magnum 72B), WizardLM-2 8x22B, the in-house SpicyXL at 132B and DeepSeek V3 at 671B. The docs are not flawless (per-model context figures disagree with the tier limits on the tokens page), but it is still the most open chat model list of any hosted app in our directory.

MyBabes reverses the pattern. Its chat models are sold as “Normal” and “Plus”, and the only place model families are named (Qwen 3, Gemma 4 and Llama variants) is the public API documentation, not the product. On media it is the transparent one: the image tool describes a photo-realism line and an SDXL-based line, and the video picker names eight engines, from its own Wan 2.2 fine-tune through Wan 2.7, Wan 3.0 and 3.0 Pro to Seedance 2.0, Mini, Fast and 2.5. SpicyChat’s only image model is DreamShaper-8, a Stable Diffusion 1.5-era checkpoint, and its TTS provider is undisclosed.

Images, video and voice

Winner: MyBabes, by a distance. SpicyChat’s Conversation Images render the character’s last reply as a picture in an Anime or Semi-Realistic style. True Supporter subscribers can use them with selected characters; I’m All In unlocks any character, including your own. The documentation is frank that outputs skew towards white female subjects and that a character may come out looking different from its avatar. There is no standalone generator and no video.

MyBabes has a full image workspace: scene builders, more than fifteen named styles, one to five images per run, inpainting, custom LoRA boards and output up to 2K. A Visual Identity Anchor keeps a character’s face consistent across images and video. Images cost 4 tokens on Premium and 2 on Ultra. Video is image-to-video on eight engines, from short 480p clips on the house engine at 3 tokens a second up to thirty seconds on Wan 3.0 and 4K on Wan 3.0 Pro and Seedance 2.0, with every per-second price on the pricing page. MyBabes leads our video ranking for that reason.

Voice is closer. SpicyChat’s top tier includes unlimited text-to-speech, a Narration Mode and voice cloning from 5 to 30-second clips. MyBabes charges per voice message (from 4 tokens on Premium, 3 on Ultra). Neither has live voice calls; for those, see our voice and calls list.

Special features

Winner: MyBabes. SpicyChat’s extras are roleplay plumbing, mostly counted above. Beyond those it has 3 to 100 persona slots by tier, a 12-language mode added in April 2026 (as reported) and a monthly Creators Leaderboard that pays the top ten in subscription upgrades rather than cash.

MyBabes has things SpicyChat does not attempt. Story Creator is a drag-and-drop studio for episodic series, published free or behind a token gate. Adventures turn a character into a winnable roleplay game with a target, a difficulty setting, an AI referee that scores each message and an image or video prize. There are also interactive games and events with token prize pools. The creator program pays 35% of the lifetime spend of every fan a creator brings in, or lets creators sell redeem codes elsewhere. Two caveats: Story Creator is in beta, and the Adventures catalogue is small, a few dozen games as of September 2026.

Free tier

Winner: SpicyChat, for chat. SpicyChat’s free plan gives unlimited messages on the two 8B models with no daily cap, character creation, Group Chat and a basic Lorebook. You pay in other ways: ads, 4K context, 180-token replies, the slowest queue and no Memory Manager.

MyBabes’s free tier needs no card and refreshes with daily token claims, but everything is metered. Chat on the Normal models costs 0.2 tokens a message and an image costs 4 tokens, so a day’s claim is spent quickly. It is the better free tier for trying an image generator and the worse one for an evening of talk. Our free apps list ranks both.

Pricing

Winner: SpicyChat for chat, MyBabes for media. SpicyChat raised prices on 8 September 2026 and documented the change in a public FAQ: Get A Taste went from $5 to $5.95 a month ($60 a year), True Supporter from $14.95 to $19.95 ($199.95 a year) and I’m All In from $24.95 to $29.95 ($299.95 a year). Euro prices match the dollar figures and UK prices are £4.95, £16.95 and £25.95. Existing subscribers keep the old price while the subscription stays active and unchanged. There are no tokens or credits.

MyBabes charges in euros only: Premium €14.99 a month (or €29.97 per quarter, which is €9.99 a month) with 200 tokens plus ten claimable each day, up to 500; Ultra €34.99 a month (or €69.99 per quarter) with 600 tokens plus daily claims, up to 900. Token packs run from 100 for €9.99 to 1,200 for €54.99 and never expire. The pricing page dresses every plan as a timed discount with a countdown; treat the displayed price as the normal price.

Chat-only user. On SpicyChat the cost is $0 with ads, or $5.95 for ad-free chat, the Memory Manager, Stheno and Magnum 12B. For 8K context, 300-token replies and the 24B to 45B models it is $19.95. On MyBabes unlimited chat starts at €14.99 a month, or €9.99 if you commit to three months and pay €29.97 up front. For the long-memory Plus models, Premium’s 500 tokens cover 2,500 messages if nothing goes on media, and Ultra at €34.99 removes the meter. At the top, SpicyChat’s I’m All In at $29.95 includes 16K context, DeepSeek V3, the 70B class and TTS; Ultra on a quarterly plan works out at €23.33 a month but names no chat model. A chat-only user pays less on SpicyChat at every level but the last, and gets more chat tooling at all of them.

100 images a month. On MyBabes Premium, 100 images at 4 tokens is 400 tokens. The plan’s 200 monthly tokens plus twenty days of 10-token claims reaches 400, so €14.99 covers it if you log in most days. If you never claim, you are 200 tokens short and a 200-token pack adds €15.99, for €30.98; at that point Ultra at €34.99 is the better buy, because images drop to 2 tokens and 100 of them use only 200 of its 600 tokens. On SpicyChat, images need True Supporter at $19.95 (selected characters only) or I’m All In at $29.95 (any character). The docs state no per-image charge or cap, so 100 images cost the flat fee. The catch is what you get: a DreamShaper-8 render of the last chat reply, with no prompt box, no inpainting and documented bias problems. For an image-led user MyBabes costs about the same or less and delivers far more.

Content policy, age checks and safety

Winner: split. Both apps permit adult content between fictional adults and both ban anything involving minors or real people. In both cases the marketing matches the rules. MyBabes publishes a Blocked Content Policy enforced by prompt filtering and manual moderation. SpicyChat’s terms page did not load for us, so its wording is as reported.

The difference is age assurance. SpicyChat requires a video selfie, with an ID fallback, before NSFW unlocks in France, the UK, Italy, Australia and 26 US states including Texas, Florida, Georgia and Virginia. A third party runs the check and SpicyChat says it receives only a yes or no. MyBabes asks users to confirm they are 18 at sign-up and, as of September 2026, publishes no document or selfie check for users; its “Age Verification” document concerns the synthetic characters, not the users. That means less friction in the affected regions. It is also weaker age assurance, and users in the UK, Australia and parts of the US should expect it to change. We found no reported breach or regulatory action for either company.

Neither is generous on refunds. MyBabes’s terms allow a request within 24 hours if fewer than 20 tokens have been used, despite “money-back guarantee” wording on the pricing page. SpicyChat has no dedicated refund policy.

Apps and platforms

Winner: SpicyChat, narrowly. Neither app is in the App Store. Apple removed SpicyChat’s iOS app in August 2025; the Android app is a sideloaded APK from the official site, not a Google Play listing. MyBabes has no native app at all, and its generators and story canvas are designed for a desktop screen. A text chat suits a phone browser better than a video studio does, so SpicyChat takes the category, but phone-first users are better served by our mobile ranking.

• Long-running text roleplay: SpicyChat. Lorebooks, Director Mode and Group Chat have no equivalent on MyBabes.

• Knowing which chat model you are talking to: SpicyChat. Fifteen models named by size and tier.

• Chatting for free: SpicyChat. Unlimited 8B chat against a daily token meter.

• Spending under $10 a month: SpicyChat’s Get A Taste at $5.95, or MyBabes Premium at €9.99 only if you prepay a quarter.

• Character images with a consistent face: MyBabes. Two model lines, inpainting, 2K and the Visual Identity Anchor.

• Video of any kind: MyBabes. SpicyChat has none.

• Episodic stories, scored roleplay games or earning money as a creator: MyBabes.

For text roleplay, SpicyChat: it has the deeper chat tooling and a named model list. MyBabes is better when the roleplay needs images, video or a game structure around it.
