7 AI companion plans under €10 a month, and what you really get

Desk research: official pricing pages, help centres, app-store listings, terms and documented user reports, checked in September 2026. AI Companion Radar takes no money from any app and uses no affiliate links.

Seven mainstream AI companion plans can be had for under about €10 or $10 a month in September 2026, but only two of them (SpicyChat’s Get A Taste and Character.AI’s c.ai+) reach that price without a long commitment. The rest get there by billing a quarter or a year up front. The best value of the seven is Nomi’s yearly plan, because almost nothing on it is metered; the cheapest sticker price, Candy AI’s annual promotion, is the one most likely to cost you three or four times what it says.

The pattern is simple. A cheap subscription usually makes text chat unlimited and meters everything visual or spoken through tokens, coins or credits. What you really pay depends on whether you stay inside the allowance.

How we picked

A plan qualified if its effective monthly price is under roughly €10 or $10 on any billing term a new customer can actually buy, and if the app is an established product with a profile in our directory. For each plan we recorded four things: the term you must commit to in order to get the price, what is unlimited, what is metered by tokens, coins or credits, and the likely real monthly spend for someone who uses the media features a few times a week. We then ranked by value for money, not by sticker price. Prices are in the currency the app charges. Where we convert, we use a rough $1 = €0.87 and round, so treat every conversion as approximate.

1. Nomi

Nomi tops this list because its yearly plan is the closest thing here to a flat fee. Standard Yearly is $99.99, which works out at $8.33 a month (about €7.25), and it includes unlimited messages, up to ten Nomis, ten group chats, voice messages and hands-free calls. Voice is part of the subscription, not a per-minute extra, which is unusual at this price. Images run on an allowance reported at about 40 requests a day.

The feature that matters for value is memory. Nomi’s layered long-term memory with its browsable Mind Map is widely rated the best in the mainstream apps (see best memory). The metered layer is small: Nomi Credits (40 for $4.99, up to 1,800 for $99.99, never expiring) pay for images beyond the daily limit, five-second video clips at 6 or 10 credits, extra Nomi slots and Anchor generation. A typical subscriber will spend nothing beyond the $8.33.

The catches are about trust and scope, not meters. Nomi publishes no price page, so you only see the figures after signing up; the refund policy is a flat no, which matters when the cheap price requires $99.99 in one payment; and Trustpilot sits at 2.4. The monthly plan is $15.99 and the quarterly $13.33 a month, so only the yearly term qualifies. Images are filtered for nudity, and the mobile apps are stricter than the web. A $9.99 “Launch” plan still appears among the App Store’s in-app purchases but looks like a legacy price not offered to new accounts. The free tier, around 50 messages a day with no voice, is a trial in all but name.

Who it is for: people who want conversation, continuity and voice, and who are confident enough to pay a year ahead. Radar score 6.9.

2. OurDream AI

OurDream AI is the best cheap plan for anyone who wants images as well as chat, provided you accept an annual bill. The monthly price is $19.99, well over our line. The annual plan is $119.88, an effective $9.99 a month (about €8.70), with unlimited chat on the standard DeepSeek-based models, 2,000 DreamCoins up front and 1,000 more each month.

What lifts it to second place is that every coin price is published in the help centre. Standard images cost 10 coins per pair, so 1,000 coins is about 200 images a month and nothing else. Voice calls cost 50 coins a minute, so the same allowance is 20 minutes of calls. Standard video costs 100 coins per five seconds, which makes a 30-second clip 600 coins, more than half the month’s budget, and user reports in 2026 describe video that often fails or drifts from the prompt. Replies from the “Genius” chat models cost one coin each. Memory tooling is explicit, with an automatic memory log and pinned memories of up to 15,000 characters.

OurDream AI’s homepage; the $9.99 effective price applies only to the annual plan, September 2026.

OurDream AI’s homepage; the $9.99 effective price applies only to the annual plan, September 2026.

Likely real spend: $9.99 if you mostly chat and make a few images a day; about $22 in a month when you add one 1,000-coin pack at $11.99 (as reported). Packs require an active subscription.

The catch is what happens when you leave. Cancelling blurs every image and video you generated until you resubscribe, and coins cannot be spent on media while the plan is inactive. Refunds are capped at 25% usage and excluded for crypto. There is a genuine free tier (about 50 messages a day and a few images, no card) for testing first.

Who it is for: chat-and-images users who will keep the subscription running. Radar score 7.8.

3. Character.AI

Character.AI has the simplest deal on the list: c.ai+ is $9.99 a month (about €8.70) with no term, or $94.99 a year, which is about $7.92 a month. Third-party price trackers checked in late August 2026 agree with the figures attributed to the company’s help centre. There is also a cheaper tier: the US App Store listing shows “Character.AI Lite” in-app purchases at $4.99 and $2.49, which rations the premium chat styles daily and does not appear on the c.ai+ web page. Character.AI has not announced it, so treat the price as regional and subject to change.

The subscription removes the things that made the free tier worse during 2026: mid-chat adverts, the daily swipe cap (reported at around 400) and peak-hour slow mode. It adds priority access, the DeepSqueak and LongSqueak chat styles, more memory pins per chat (30 against 15, as reported), and unlimited voice calls. For a plan with no commitment, unlimited calls at $9.99 is strong value; compare the per-minute charges elsewhere on this page. The character library is the largest anywhere.

Character.AI’s c.ai+ subscription screen with monthly and annual prices, September 2026.

Character.AI’s c.ai+ subscription screen with monthly and annual prices, September 2026.

The metered layer is Charms, a micro-currency still labelled beta. Imagine images are reported at 10 Charms and Animate clips at 20, and subscribers still pay them, although Charms can be earned through daily quests. Real spend for most subscribers is the flat $9.99.

The catch is policy, not price. Pornographic and sexually explicit content is prohibited and filtered on every tier, so c.ai+ is the wrong purchase for adult companionship however cheap it is. The platform also carries a heavy legal history, including teen-harm lawsuits settled in January 2026.

Who it is for: SFW roleplay, fandom characters and voice chat on a phone (see best mobile apps). Radar score 6.8.

4. MyBabes

MyBabes qualifies narrowly. Premium is €14.99 a month; the 3-month plan brings it to €9.99 a month, billed as €29.97 per quarter. That is just under our euro line and, at about $11.50, over the dollar one; prices are in euros only. A three-month term is, at least, a smaller bet than the full year that Nomi, OurDream, Replika and Candy ask for.

Unlimited: chat on the “Normal” models. Metered: everything else, through tokens. Premium includes 200 tokens a month plus daily token claims that take the total to as much as 500, so an attentive user reaches 500 and one who never claims stays at 200. Images cost 4 tokens, which makes 500 tokens about 125 images, or roughly 50 if you never claim. Video is priced per second and per engine on the public pricing page, from 3 tokens a second on the in-house Wan 2.2 fine-tune, so a five-second clip is 15 to 30 tokens on the everyday engines. “Plus” chat models (ten times the memory) cost 0.2 tokens a message, so 1,000 messages would eat the base allowance. Packs start at €9.99 for 100 tokens and never expire.

MyBabes’s pricing page on the 3-month toggle, where Premium shows €9.99 a month, September 2026.

Likely real spend: €9.99 for a chat-first user who makes a few images a day; about €20 in a month with one small token pack for video.

It loses several comparisons on this page outright. OurDream’s allowance buys more images for a similar price (about 200 against 125). Nomi and Character.AI include voice calls; MyBabes has no live voice calls at all. SpicyChat and c.ai+ need no commitment. There is no native app, the pricing page dresses its prices as countdown “sales”, and refunds are limited to 24 hours with fewer than 20 tokens used. What it offers in return is breadth, including eight named video engines, at a price few video-capable apps reach (see best for video generation).

Who it is for: browser users who want adult chat plus some image and video generation on a small budget. Radar score 8.3.

See the MyBabes homepage

5. SpicyChat

SpicyChat sells the cheapest plan here that needs no commitment. Get A Taste is $5.95 a month or $60 a year ($5 a month), following the price rise of 8 September 2026 (it was $5 and $50). Euro prices match the dollar figures, so it is €5.95 in the eurozone. Existing subscribers keep their old price while the subscription stays active and unchanged.

Nothing is metered. SpicyChat has no tokens or coins; tiers differ by context size, reply length and model access. That makes the bill predictable: $5.95 is $5.95. The pricing is published, and the September increase came with a written grandfathering policy, which is more than most apps manage.

The reason it ranks fifth is what the money buys. The free tier already offers unlimited chat on the basic models with the NSFW toggle (subject to regional age verification). Get A Taste removes adverts, skips some of the queue and adds the Memory Manager and up to ten personas, but it keeps the free tier’s 4K context and 180-token replies. The features that change the experience (8K context, 24B to 70B class models, Semantic Memory 2.0) start at True Supporter, now $19.95 a month, and 16K context with DeepSeek V3-class models needs I’m All In at $29.95. Image features are limited and there is no iOS app or Play Store listing.

Who it is for: regular free-tier users of uncensored text roleplay who want no adverts and a flat bill (see best for roleplay). Radar score 6.6.

6. Replika

Replika Pro on the annual plan is reported at about $69.99 a year, an effective $5.83 a month (about €5.10), against roughly $19.99 on monthly billing. Replika does not publish prices on its website; the figures are the US in-app prices reported through 2026 and they vary by region, platform and promotion. Check the number on your own screen before paying.

What you get is genuinely unmetered. Pro unlocks the romantic partner, spouse and mentor relationship modes, voice calls and premium voices, avatar selfies, wider avatar customisation and expanded memory. The only currency, Gems, buys outfits and room items. Long-term memory is among the better ones in the category, with a visible, editable memory section since the 2026 rebuild, and the 3D avatar and AR mode give it a presence text-only apps lack.

Replika’s App Store listing; subscription prices appear only inside the app, September 2026.

Replika’s App Store listing; subscription prices appear only inside the app, September 2026.

Likely real spend: the annual fee and nothing else, unless you step up to Ultra (about $119.99 a year, roughly $10 a month) for the smarter conversation model.

The catches are why a $5.83 plan ranks sixth. All purchases are final, which is a poor match for a plan that is only cheap when you pay a year ahead on a price you could not see beforehand. Free text chat is already unlimited and ad-free, so Pro is mostly buying relationship modes and voice. Explicit content is unavailable to accounts created after February 2023; romance on Pro is warm but PG-13.

Who it is for: people who want one steady, SFW companion with an avatar and calls. Radar score 5.9.

7. Candy AI

Candy AI has the lowest headline on this page and the widest gap between headline and bill. The annual Premium plan is advertised at “-70%”, about €3.99 a month charged once a year; September 2026 reports put the annual figure anywhere between €3.99 and $5.99 a month depending on the promotion running. The 3-month plan is about €8.99 a month (one source says $7.99), and monthly billing is €13.99 or $12.99. We could not load the pricing page, so all of these are as reported in September 2026.

The subscription makes text chat unlimited and unlocks Story Mode and character creation. Everything else draws on tokens: images, voice notes and calls, and Live Action video of up to 120 seconds. About 100 tokens a month are included. Candy does not publish per-item costs on its pricing page; third-party figures suggest about four tokens an image, so the allowance is roughly 25 images and nothing else.

Likely real spend: the sticker price if you only chat, but one reviewer’s published five-month log came to about $37 a month, and reports of $25 to $60 for regular media users are consistent with the token maths. As a chat-only plan it is excellent value; as a way into Candy’s actual selling points it is an entry fee.

There are real strengths. The media stack is the broadest of the big adult apps, and the terms are unusually specific, with a named Maltese operator and a 14-day cooling-off right for EU and UK customers. Elsewhere the refund window is 24 hours and 20 tokens, and memory lapses are the most consistent complaint from paying users.

Who it is for: chat-first users who will rarely touch media, or media users who budget honestly for tokens. Radar score 8.0.

Also considered

  • Janitor AI: Janitor+ is $12.99 a month with no cheaper term, so it misses the line. Its free tier, unlimited text chat on JLLM with a roughly 9,000-token context and no card, beats several paid plans above for pure text roleplay. Radar score 6.7.

  • Chai: Premium is $13.99 a month or $134.99 a year (about $11.25 a month), so it is over the line; the $5.99 weekly plan works out at about $26 a month. Radar score 4.2.

  • Kindroid: the closest miss. Standard on the web is $139.99 a year, about $11.67 a month, which is roughly €10 after conversion, with published memory limits. Radar score 7.4.

  • CrushOn AI: Standard is reported at about $5.99 a month, but the pricing page was unreachable in September 2026 and third-party tables disagree. We will not rank a price we cannot confirm. Radar score 4.6.

  • Botify AI: Premium is reported at $29.99 a year, about $2.50 a month. The price is unconfirmed on a first-party page, voice and video burn Energy on every tier, and the iOS app has left the App Store. Radar score 5.3.

Questions people ask

What is the cheapest AI companion subscription in 2026?

By sticker price, Candy AI’s annual promotion at about €3.99 a month, followed by SpicyChat’s Get A Taste at $5 to $5.95 and Replika Pro’s annual plan at about $5.83. By total cost for a typical user, SpicyChat, Replika and Nomi are the cheapest, because nothing important on them is metered.

Which AI companion plans under $10 have no long commitment?

Two: SpicyChat Get A Taste at $5.95 a month and Character.AI’s c.ai+ at $9.99 a month. Every other plan on this list needs a quarterly or yearly payment to reach its low price.

Is a cheap annual plan worth the risk?

Only after a month on the free tier or the monthly plan. Nomi and Replika give no refunds, OurDream caps refunds at 25% usage, and Candy’s and MyBabes’s standard windows are 24 hours with fewer than 20 tokens used.

Why does my AI girlfriend app cost more than the advertised price?

Because the subscription usually covers text chat only. Images, voice and video are paid from a token, coin or credit balance, and the included allowance is often small (about 25 images on Candy AI, for example). Look for a published per-item price list: OurDream and MyBabes have one, Candy does not.

Can I get unlimited NSFW chat for under $10 a month?

Yes. SpicyChat and Janitor AI offer it free, and Nomi, OurDream, Candy AI and MyBabes include unlimited adult text chat on the plans listed here. Character.AI and Replika do not permit explicit content at any price. See adult-friendly apps and best free apps.
