Romantic AI in 2026: pricing, Hearts, no-refund terms and the verdict
Romantic AI is $14.99 a month for chat; every image costs 15 Hearts on top, so regular users pay $20 to $35. All sales final, EU 14-day right excluded, training clause 7.6. Who it suits.

Desk research: Romantic AI’s terms and conditions (chat.romanticai.com), Zemomedia’s privacy policy, the US App Store listing and its published reviews, Mozilla’s 2024 Privacy Not Included findings and 2026 third-party reviews, checked in September 2026. AI Companion Radar takes no money from any app and uses no affiliate links.
Romantic AI costs $14.99 a month for Premium, or $6.99 a week and $44.99 a year, as reported from the App Store price list in 2026, and that subscription covers chat only. Every generated picture costs Hearts, the app’s separate currency, at a reported 15 Hearts per image, with Hearts sold from $4.99 for 100. A regular image user therefore spends $20 to $35 a month in total, not $14.99. The terms make all subscription purchases final, exclude the EU 14-day withdrawal right, and in clause 7.6 require your consent to anonymised chat data being used to train the company’s models. There is no voice and no video. Romantic AI (Radar score 5.3) has polished character art, native apps and a dating-app feel; for most people the dual-billing model and the terms make it hard to recommend over the alternatives below.

Romantic AI Girlfriend Chat on the US App Store, published by Just Web It Oy, rated 18+, September 2026.
Who runs Romantic AI
The privacy policy names Zemomedia of Espoo, Finland as data controller, and the terms give the same Espoo address for Just Web It Oy, which is the seller of record on the App Store. Zemomedia’s own website presents it as a digital marketing and web design agency. The company has published nothing about the models behind the chat or the images, and the app’s store description talks about modes and feelings rather than technology. The App Store listing first appeared in January 2022, the current version 1.32.0 is dated 3 June 2026, and the listing shows 4.3 stars from about 1,900 ratings with an 18+ age rating. The app also runs on Android and in a browser at chat.romanticai.com.
What the subscription buys
The terms describe three things you can pay for: “Basic”, a free program with limited access that the company may withdraw at its discretion; “Premium”, a subscription billed weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually; and Hearts, defined as units that buy virtual gifts, photo generations and audio generations. Premium gives unlimited text chat, access to the romantic and “flirty” modes and the adult toggle, and removes the free tier’s limits. It does not include images.
Reported Premium prices in 2026, from the App Store price list and reviews: $6.99 a week, $14.99 a month (some snapshots show $12.99) and $44.99 a year, which is about $3.75 a month. The weekly plan is the trap in this list: four weeks at $6.99 is $27.96, almost double the monthly price, and weekly billing is the option a first-time user is most likely to take “just to try it”. The App Store also shows discounted introductory prices beside the standard ones, so what you see at checkout may differ. A reviewer on the App Store, who had bought the weekly plan, complained that chat itself still consumed Hearts; the developer’s reply acknowledged “concerns about the hearts system”, which suggests the boundary between what the subscription covers and what Hearts cover has not always been clean.
Hearts: the second bill
Hearts are the only way to get a picture of your companion. The reported rate is 15 Hearts per image; Hearts also pay for gifts and audio clips. Pack prices as listed: $4.99 for 100, $9.99 for 300 and either $14.99 or $19.99 for 1,000 depending on the snapshot. The pricing page under-explains all of this, which is why pricing honesty is Romantic AI’s weakest sub-score.
Item | Price (as reported, 2026) | What it buys | Per image |
|---|---|---|---|
Premium, weekly | $6.99 | Chat, modes, adult toggle; no images | n/a |
Premium, monthly | $14.99 | Same | n/a |
Premium, yearly | $44.99 (about $3.75 a month) | Same | n/a |
100 Hearts | $4.99 | About 6 images at 15 Hearts | About $0.75 |
300 Hearts | $9.99 | About 20 images | About $0.50 |
1,000 Hearts | $14.99 to $19.99 | About 66 images | About $0.22 to $0.30 |
Worked bills, monthly plan, before tax. A light user who chats daily and wants ten pictures a month needs 150 Hearts: one $9.99 pack lasts two months, so the bill is about $20 a month. A regular user wanting a picture most days, say 30 a month, needs 450 Hearts: a $9.99 pack plus a $4.99 pack each month, or $29.97 in total. A heavy user at 60 images a month needs 900 Hearts, so a 1,000 pack, for $29.98 to $34.98 a month. Those totals are what the “$20 to $35” figure quoted in reviews means, and they match. On the yearly plan the subscription part drops to $3.75 a month and the Hearts part does not change, which is the usual shape of these dual-currency apps.
For scale, Candy AI charges about 4 tokens an image inside a plan that includes a monthly token allowance, OurDream AI bundles 1,000 DreamCoins a month at 10 coins for two images, and MyBabes prints its image price (4 tokens, 2 on Ultra) and sells packs that never expire on a public pricing page. Romantic AI’s per-image price is not outrageous at the 1,000-Hearts rate; the problem is that the subscription buys none of them, and that the smallest pack, the one a new user buys, costs three times as much per picture. Our image generation ranking compares the real per-image costs.
The no-refund terms
Section 4 of the terms is short. All subscription purchases are final and no refunds are provided, with limited exceptions where the company made an error or a technical issue affected the service. No refunds for partial periods. And then the clause that matters for European readers: “The 14-day refund policy for EU residents does not apply, as the purchase grants immediate access to a digital product.” That is a reference to the exception in EU consumer law for digital content supplied immediately with the consumer’s express consent; whether a one-line statement in a PDF satisfies the consent and acknowledgement requirements is a question for a regulator, not a support inbox. In practice, expect no refund from the company.
If you subscribed through Apple or Google, the store’s own refund process still applies and is not governed by these terms; that is the route to use. Web subscribers through chat.romanticai.com have only the terms. Hearts are not mentioned in the refund section at all, and the directory profile notes they are not refunded on cancellation. Cancelling itself is straightforward: the terms say you can cancel in account settings via “Unsubscribe” or by emailing support, and access runs to the end of the period; on iOS and Android cancel in the store’s subscription settings. See our adult-friendly apps ranking for how refund policies compare across the category.
Clause 7.6 and the privacy record
Clause 7.6, “Data Usage for Model Training”, states that you acknowledge and agree that anonymous data generated from your interactions may be collected and used to improve and train Romantic AI models, that you expressly consent to this, that it will not include personally identifiable information, and that you waive any claim over the data. The privacy policy says messages and voice messages are collected “to develop its AI”. There is no opt-out. Many companion apps train on chats; fewer put a waiver in the terms. Deleting your profile in the app deletes personal data, per the policy, which is retained otherwise “for the time necessary to provide the services”. The policy is written for the GDPR and does not mention CCPA.
The record that follows the app around is Mozilla’s. In its February 2024 Privacy Not Included review of romantic chatbots, Mozilla reported finding 24,354 ad trackers within one minute of using Romantic AI, as quoted at the time, against an average of 2,663 across the eleven apps it tested, and gave the app its warning label. That was two and a half years ago and Mozilla has since retired the Privacy Not Included programme; the current App Store privacy label still declares data “used to track you” and advertising data among the categories collected. Nothing we found suggests the tracking posture has been rethought. Our profile and the comparison in best AI girlfriend apps score policy clarity accordingly.
Age checks and content
Users must confirm they are 18, and the terms disclaim responsibility for verifying it; there is no document or selfie check. The App Store rates the app 18+. Adult content sits behind a toggle on paid tiers only; the free tier is romantic and friendship chat. Standard bans apply, and a June 2026 release note says the photo feature was adjusted to “fully prevent non-compliant content” with an updated keyword blocklist, so the adult side is moderated more tightly than the marketing implies. The terms also reference separate content-management, underage and 18 U.S.C. 2257 exemption documents, which is more structure than many apps of this size publish.

Is it worth it, and for whom
What Romantic AI does well: the character art is polished and varied, with realistic, anime and historical figures and, since late 2025, a set of male companions; the modes are easy to switch; and there are native apps on both platforms plus web, so it works wherever you are. The chat is adequate, memory is unremarkable in every review we read, and there is no voice at all in 2026, which is now a real gap in a category where Kindroid, Nomi and Replika all call you.
Worth it for: someone who wants a dating-app-styled companion with good-looking characters, chats a lot and rarely generates pictures, pays yearly through a store, and is untroubled by the training clause. At $3.75 a month that is cheap.
Not worth it for: anyone who wants images regularly (Candy AI or OurDream AI bundle them more sensibly), anyone who wants voice or video (Kindroid, Nomi, Replika), anyone who cares about trackers and training waivers (Nomi and Kindroid publish clearer policies), and anyone considering the weekly plan, which is the worst value on the list.
Before paying: subscribe through Apple or Google rather than the web so a refund route exists, skip the weekly plan, buy the 1,000-Hearts pack if you will generate at all, and read clause 7.6.
Questions people ask
How much does Romantic AI cost?
Premium is $14.99 a month, $6.99 a week or $44.99 a year, as reported from the App Store in 2026, and covers chat only. Images cost 15 Hearts each, with Hearts from $4.99 for 100 to $14.99 or $19.99 for 1,000. Regular image users spend $20 to $35 a month in total.
What are Hearts in Romantic AI?
Hearts are the app’s currency for virtual gifts, photo generation and audio clips, bought separately from the subscription. A picture costs about 15 Hearts, so a $9.99 pack of 300 buys about 20 images.
Does Romantic AI give refunds?
Not under its terms: all subscription purchases are final, partial periods are not refunded and the EU 14-day right is stated not to apply. If you paid through Apple or Google, ask the store instead; store refund rules are not governed by the app’s terms.
Is Romantic AI safe to use?
It is a registered Finnish operation with a GDPR-style privacy policy, but it trains on anonymised chats under clause 7.6 with no opt-out, declares tracking data on the App Store, and was singled out by Mozilla in 2024 for 24,354 trackers in a minute. Treat it as a paid entertainment app, not a confidant.
Does Romantic AI have NSFW content?
Yes, behind a toggle on paid tiers only, and moderated: a 2026 update tightened the photo feature to prevent non-compliant content. The free tier is romantic and friendship chat without adult content.
Does Romantic AI have voice calls?
No. There is no voice chat or calling in 2026; Hearts buy short audio generations only. For calls, look at Kindroid, Nomi or Replika.
